To celebrate the partnership in event technology, the companies showcased the new-to-the-UK events industry technology, Lumentium, at an exclusive invite-only press and industry showcase on 3rd March 2020.

THE EVENT

The event featured an unveiling of the Lumentium table mapping technology, alongside an immersive gourmet experience which allows food and virtual environments to be enjoyed in synchronicity.

Entering to a champagne reception and canapes, guests were soon ready to discover the wonders of Lumentium’s world. Beginning in space, the gastronomic experience started with a bang. A quick trip around the futuristic Aqua City caught guest’s attention and the show was ready to begin.

The journey began in Toyko, before being whisked around the world in the blink of an eye. Paired perfectly with Umboshi Seared Tuna and sushi style rice, alongside a green tea infused cocktail.

The main event took place in New York, where guests could see and taste the streets of the city that never sleeps. A New York strip, piled with Oyster ‘Rockefeller’ butter arrived next, with a truffled Mac ’n’ cheese.

Finishing up, dessert was an indulgent affair in ancient Rome. As guests virtually wandered through the beautiful labyrinth of Rome’s winding streets, to delight in the ‘Dropped’ pistachio gelato, with pistaschio pannacotta & gelato balanced alongside coffee mascarpone.

THE PARTNERSHIP

This partnership enables 8 Northumberland Avenue and Apex to drastically reduce the price point of this cutting-edge technology for large-scale events, opening up a new audience engagement potential for the meetings and events industry.

Lumentium’s ‘TableMapper’ lamp-projector is the only portable table mapping format available worldwide. The event also utilised the impressive Renu Stealth robotic lighting recently installed by 8 Northumberland Avenue, able to greatly enhance the impact and scale of an event’s AV production at a very small cost.

Apex’s event director Paul Ashford explained, “By ‘painting with light’, Lumentium video mapping uses visual stimulation to create stunning and highly engaging events with a real wow factor.

“Until now, this technology was not portable, so its use was very limited for events and much more expensive. We are thrilled to work alongside such a stunning venue as 8 Northumberland Avenue to showcase what Lumentium can achieve for high quality events.”

8 Northumberland Avenue has a long-standing commitment to event technology, being the first venue in Europe to install intelligent lighting throughout the venue and the first to install 3D holographic technology. In 2019, the venue was also the first to install bespoke robotic lighting throughout the venue, designed to bridge the gap between AV and architectural lighting. Working alongside them closely has been PSAV, one of the largest production companies in the world, under the partnership name of Blue Hut Productions.

Lumentium is a Madrid-based technology company that was brought to the UK by Apex, one of the UK’s leading specialist conference and event management companies. Last year, Apex signed an exclusive deal to become the sole representative of Lumentium in the UK.
