Your patience, efficiency and flexibility throughout was amazing - it was a pleasure to work with you all!
The Star studded event attended by Stanley Tucci, Christoper Eccleston and Sofie Gråbøl, featured an ice themed red carpet as guests entered the venue. The screening of the first episode took place in The Ballroom while guests enjoyed smoked salmon bagels and champagne provided by AlchemyLive. Following the premiere, guests were invited through to The Old Billiard Room where a full sized ice bear sculpture took centre stage and guests were served drinks from Fortitude ice bars.
The TV series is based in Fortitude: A Place Like Nowhere Else. Surrounded by the savage beauty of the frozen landscape, Fortitude, a small town in the Arctic Circle, is one of the safest towns on earth. There has never been a violent crime here. Until now. In this close-knit community, a murder touches everyone and the unsettling horror of the crime threatens the future of the town itself.
Zai Bennett, Director of Sky Atlantic explains their approach to the series: “We wanted to work with the best quality people, on both sides of the camera, giving them the freedom to challenge and inspire. With Fortitude, I believe that’s exactly what we’ve done, and it’s testament to the programme that it has already been bought by broadcasters the world over.”
The Senior Event Manager, Corporate Communications considered the event a great success: “We couldn't have wished for anything more! Your patience, efficiency and flexibility throughout was amazing - it was a pleasure to work with you all!”
In addition to the premiere, Sky Atlantic also unleashed an 8 ft long, fully animated ‘adult male polar bear’ on the streets of London on Tuesday 27th January to mark the launch of the new crime thriller.
Marketing Magazine remarked: “Commuters across the capital received a shock - when Sky Atlantic set loose a life sized polar bear on the streets of London to promote its new Arctic crime drama ‘Fortitude'.
The 8ft fully animated polar bear was seen roaming parks, landmarks and underground tube stations today as the TV network promoted its new series.
Designed to be realistic, Sky Atlantic said the bear took 19 designers two months to construct. The life like animal is being operated by two character actors from famous West End show War Horse who studied the mammals' natural movements, rehearsing for five days.
It is built with two hidden cameras, allowing the performers to see.
Zai Bennett, director of Sky Atlantic, said: "In Fortitude, there are 3000 polar bears to 713 residents. Polar bears are the most dangerous animal on land and present an ever present threat to Fortitude's inhabitants.
"To launch our new Arctic-noir thriller we wanted to bring a realistic polar bear to the streets of London to give people an up close experience of what it must be like to come face to face with one."
Fortitude will air for the first time on the 29th of January at 9pm on Sky Atlantic as part of a 11 episode series.
